Leah N. Olbrich

Leah ("Lay-uh")

Leah Olbrich stopped coloring in the lines at an early age. Fascinated by creatures and folk tales, Leah left her home in New Jersey to study illustration at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Illustration has led her to puppetry, and she actively creates work in both fields. She will begin working towards her masters degree in puppetry in the fall at the California Institute for the Arts. Entranced by the magic of storytelling, Leah strives to create and become a part of fictitious worlds as often as possible through the quirky characters she creates. To date, Leah has written and illustrated two children’s books, one of which is a pop-up. She also recently wrote and directed a short shadow puppet film, which has been featured in two film festivals in New York City. Leah has had work exhibited at the New Jersey Visual Arts Center in Summit, New Jersey as well as the Society of Illustrators and at the 2010 Annual Pratt Show at the Manhattan Center in New York City. She has also been published in Sprouts Magazine. Leah hopes to continue to combine her illustration and puppetry into work for publication as well as theatre, film and beyond.
